たいていどこに行くにも「カメラを持って」行きます。どこで素敵なシャッターチャンスにめぐり合えるかわからないもの。特に、2002年9月にデジカメを購入してからというもの、持ち歩きが簡単で手軽に撮れる楽しさを享受しています。

でも。先月、仕事で小学校を訪問したとき、元気のいい子どもたちに私のテンションも上がってしまってカメラを落として壊してしまいました。暫定的に直したものの、やはり一時しのぎにすぎず、結局ぜんぜんだめにしてしまいました。
昨年、プロのカメラマンを擁する現在の部署に移り、一眼レフデジカメを使うようになって、今度買うなら「一眼レフデジカメがいいかなぁ…」と考えたりして、だいぶ迷ったのですが、今年はサンタクロースが
やってきました。

写真生活を楽しもう！と思います。

I passed it! 受かっちゃった

As I wrote in a previous article, I have been learning German with one objective. It is to enjoy conversation with my Austrian family friend.
There is an authorized exam of the language, and I took it in November. This time, apparently my preparation was not enough. But I dare took it because I did not want to wast the fee I had paid for the application.
Once the exam was started, unconsciously of course, I concentrated myself on it. I thought I understood more than I expected to myself. What was more, I thought I understood almost all in listening complihension!
Then, the result was delivered today........
Yes, I passed it! Unbelievable! Amazing! Miracle! Whatever!
The next step is my final goal in the exam, and I am going to take it in November, next year. From this grade, the applicants must take oral test, which is more harder for me, because there is nobody around to practice.



以前に書きましたが、ある目標をもってドイツ語を勉強しています。それは「オーストリア人の友人一家とドイツ語で会話したい」というもの。日本には「ドイツ語検定（独検）」があり、11月に受験しました。今回は明らかに勉強不足でしたが、せっかく支払った受験料が惜しくて受験しました。いざ試験が始まると、問題に集中してしまい、思った以上に理解できることに驚きました。さらには、聞き取りのテストは「オーストリア人の友人が降りてきたのではないか」と思うほどに理解できて・・・。
今日、結果が送られてきました。
受かっちゃった！　信じられない！すばらしい！奇跡だ！この際何でもいい！
さて。次の2級が独検における私のゴール。また11月に試験を受けます。この級からは会話の面接試験がありますが、これが厳しいのよねぇ…会話の練習相手がいないから。

Happy "Madaraka" Day, Kenya!

Today, December 12 is the Independence Day of Kenya.
In my present group, there is a Kenyan (what is more, he is the only Kenyan among all trainees in our institute!), so I would like to convey my best wishes.
今日、12月12日はケニアの独立記念日です。
担当している研修生の中に、ケニアの人がいます。（しかも研修機関全体で彼ひとりなんですって）
お祝いしたいと思います。

To celebrate the day, the restaurant of our organization prepared a Kanyan meal called "Karanga". Whe not trying this today!
お祝いに、「カランガ」というケニア料理が出されました。食べなきゃ。
「カランガ」は、野菜と肉の煮込みでした。シンプルな味付けがおいしい料理でした。

Thanks to my Mom this time (Ref to #31)

As I wrote in #31, I believe "Shorter the distance, better the quality." in cooking material.
This time, fresh banana came from my mother. Thanks to not only to our mother earth, but to my own mother!! I love you, Mom!

#31にも書きましたが、「畑と台所の距離は短いほどいい」と思います。
先日、母から採りたてのバナナをもらいました。祖父の頃からの畑で、伯父が育てたバナナです。もちろん完全無農薬！私の母と、母なる大地にも感謝していただきまーす！

Where do you have your lunch?
During weekdays, I mainly eat lunch in the office, just in front of my PC. These days, I bring lunch from home.
どこでお昼ご飯を食べますか？　私はほとんどオフィスでパソコンに向かって昼食をとります。この頃はお弁当持参が多いです。

It is the time for the private e-mails, preparation for the afternoon session, or mere browsing the Internet.
パソコンに向かって個人的なメールをチェックしたり、午後の講義の準備をしたり、ネットサーフィンをしたりします。

Sometimes I eat out with friends, or eat at the dining hall of the Institute I work. Today I had lunch there with my trainees.
時には同僚や友だちと外食したり、職場にある食堂で研修生と食べることもあります。今日はそういう日でした。

Calligraphy lesson now 書道教室 その後

As posted on #8 on June 15, 2006, I started calligraphy. On almost every Monday, I attend the class. My progress is very slow, but I've been enjoying it.
Yesterday I finished writing "飛翔" or Flight (Soaring). My master told me to put better four sheets (the above is the master's example) on the board for close examination. It was the first time for me to do it, and I noticed that we could compare the sheets well.
Next week, I will start Hiragana, which seems simpler but more difficult.

8番めに書いたように、書道を始めました。ほぼ毎週月曜日に教室に通っています。歩みは遅いのですが、それでも筆を持つことを楽しんでいます。昨日、「飛翔」を仕上げました。書き終えたとき、先生が「よくできた4枚を黒板に貼って」とおっしゃいました。作品の吟味のために、上級の人たちがしていることですが、私がそうするのは初めて。とてもどきどきしました。貼って比べてみると、確かによく見えることがわかりました。
来週からいよいよひらがなを書き始めます。単純に見えますが、ひらがなは難しいのだそうです。家では、週に一度おさらいするのがやっとですが、これからも続けていきたいものです。

Tempting? or Dangerous?

This is souvenir from Hawaii. One of my colleague attended an international conference there. (The news from Hawaii during his stay was the earthquake occurred there!!) These are, obviously, some types of macadamia nuts. Hawaii is well known with it. All of them are very delicious (i.e. tempting), but rich in energy (i.e. dangerous) too.

古くからの（と言ってもいいよね）友人と電話で話したら、彼女が「ご無沙汰してごめんね。なかなかメールも書かず。でもブログは見てるのよ」って。この頃、あまりに忙しくて更新していないのよね。家であまりパソコンの前に座っていると家族に不評だし。
仕事用のサンプルで作っているようなブログでも、見てくださる人がいるのはうれしいものです。ありがとう。

Team T shirt! みんなでTシャツ！

My current group of international trainees and the staffs decided to make our team T shirt. It came to discussion for several times, but in vain so far. But, this time, it came true.
The image design was collaboratedly done by one of the instructors and one of the participant (he is a reall graphic designer!).
We all put it on at an event. I think the T shirt was one of the reasons to be an outstanding group in the event.

担当している研修生とスタッフで、チームTシャツを作りました。過去にも何度か同じプランが持ち上がっては実現しなかったのですが、今回はついに！
イラストのデザインは、原案をスタッフの一人が、画像化を研修生の一人（何とプロのグラフィックデザイナー）が担当したコラボレーション。
できあがったシャツを着て、全員でイベントに参加しました。私たちが目立っていたのは、イベントの内容もさることながらおそろいのTシャツのおかげでもあったのだと思います。

International lunch?? インターナショナル おひるごはん

I had "Chirashi Zushi" for lunch today. It is one of typical Japanese meals. It was served with a vegetable tempra, pickled garlic, miso soup (with sea weed) and salad. The sushi had grilled eel, salmon eggs, nori (seaweed), pickled lotus root, etc.

Emma from Peru, one of my current participants, kindly invited me to join their table, so I had lunch with Latin American friends. They are, Emma, of course,
and Carlos san from Brazil,
an Raul san from Argentina. The men have been here for computer skills.

After lunch was "sweets" time, which I cherish so much. Here is my candy case from Thailand, containing mint candies.

Again, a Malaysian friend of mine forwarded me an interesting picture.
I need to acquire the skills of multimedia, but I still like this kind of thing more than multimedia software.
またまたマレーシアの友人から楽しい画像が送られてきました。「生まれながらのSE」というタイトルで、いたずらのお仕置きに、「もう教室で紙飛行機を飛ばしません」と500回書くように言われた子が、うえの絵のようにプログラムを書いたというものです。
私は、マルチメディア系のソフトウェアの技術を習得して教えなければならないのですが、プログラミング言語で遊んでいる方がやっぱり好きかも・・・この絵を見て思います。だってわかりやすいんだもん。

I have been so busy, I guess. 何だかとっても忙しい気がする・・・

いつもに輪をかけて忙しい気がしますねぇ。
やらなければならないことが山積みで、「現時点での優先順位」ばかり考えているように思います。（あ、今も、ほんとはブログ更新なんてしている場合ではなく、XXXXの書類を作らなくてはならないはずよね）
頭が活性化されていいのかもしれませんが、常に「何か抜けはないか？」という強迫観念にかられています。必要なコミュニケーションが取れず、大切なことの詰めが甘くなることもしばしば。
今の私にに不可欠なのが「システム手帳と携帯電話」・・・この2つがないと、さあ大変。手帳や電話を使っているんだか、この2つに使われているんだか。

I know I have been busier these days.
There are mountainous things to do in front of me, then I think I always think "what has the highest priority?" (So, I should not update this weblog, but prepare a document on XXXX.)
Well, the life like this might activate my brain, but I feel I have been suffering from an obsession "Haven't I skipped something very important?" And sometimes, I lack in necessary communication.
Here are my really powerful and helpful organizers: Fifofax and Mobile phone. I feel very uneasy without them. Sometimes I don't know whether I am using them or they are using them.

Misery loves company...? 同病相憐れむ...同僚相哀れむ？

以前に働いていた民間企業は、給料はよかった（たぶんね）かわりに仕事はかなり大変でした。当時の同僚で、今もコンタクトを取り合っている人たちがいます。東北、首都圏、沖縄に離れて住んでいて、毎年その土地のくだものを送りあっています。

いいねぇ、同僚は。苦楽をともにしたからねぇ。
それって「同僚相哀れむ？」

The salary by a private company I worked was fairly good (I guess so), but the requirements were really high. There are some then colleagues whom we are still keeping in touch. Living in different places such as Tohoku (northeastern), capital region, and Okianwa, we are sending our speciality fruits with each other.
Oh, such wonderful colleagues. We spent much time together...sharing pleasure and pains together.. Misery loves company. But in this case, "company" does not mean the organization, but each of us!

34. New responsibility 新たな責任感

New group to acquire digital video production has started. This time, I am in charge of this gourp as the Course Leader. To confess you, I have no sufficient skill in that field. But all I can do is do my best for them and their mother countries. Wish me good luck!
デジタルビデオ制作技術を学ぶためのグループがやってきました。12月半ばまでの滞在期間、私がいわゆる「担任」になります。実を言うとこの分野でみんなを引っぱっていくだけの技術力は私にはまだまだありません。でも、彼らと彼らの故国のためにベストを尽くすことはできますね。

35.Cinnamon roll at Starbucks スターバックスでシナモンロール

何かのきっかけでとりつかれたたべものってありますか？
私はいくつもあります。キムチ、チョコレート。反対にそれまで好きだったのにほとんど見向きもしなくなったものも。アイスクリーム。
で。この頃私がとりつかれているのが「おにぎり」と「シナモンロール」。そう、きっかけは「かもめ食堂」です。「ミスタードーナッツのシナモンロール、おいしかったな」なんて思い出しています。今もあるのかしら。
同僚と週末のお散歩をしていて、Starbucksにもあるのを見つけました。うれしかった。

Have you ever been obsessive about something? I have. Kimchi and chocolate.
On the contrary, icecream is something I had loved before, but not don't like as before.
Now. Something I am really obsessive about are "Onigiri - Rice ball" and "Cinnamon roll". It started because I got influenced by a cinema I went "Kamome shokudo".
Recently I found cinnamon rolls at Starbucks, which made me really happy!

33. How do you vertically hold your camera? 縦方向のカメラの構え方

Which position do you take when you hold your camera in portrait?　I am more used to position as left, but when I joined the current team, one of the colleagues "corrected" me, saying "anyone in our team must hold this way".　I still hesitate to do so, because I don't want to open my armpit (first reason), then I feel more stable with this (second reason).
カメラを縦に構えるとき、あなたはカメラをどう持ちますか。私はずっと左のようにしてきました。
今の部署（プロのカメラマンがいる、メディアのプロ集団…だと思う）に来たときに、その構えを直されました。「ここの部署にいるからにはそれじゃダメだよ」って。
でも。脇を開けるのは何だかためらわれるし、それにこの方がカメラが安定するように思えていました。

But when I see other professional photographers holding, very few of them do as I do.　So now I start to think whether I should follow the others.
意識的に他の人の構えを観察してみると、ほぼ例外なく私のではなく、左のように構えるんですねぇ。
どうしようかな。長年の方針を捨てて、「脇オープン」にしようかな。

32. A Friend in Burkina Faso ブルキナファソからの便り

I've heard from a friend of mine in Burkina Faso, Western Africa.
She was an intern at my office last year, and has been assigned to that country as a volunteer on audio visual technology.
I am happy to know that she has got many friends and been doing fine there.

31. The blessings of mother earth 大地の恵みに感謝して

"Shorter the distance, better the quality." This is what I believe in cooking material. I mean, if the distance between production site (farmers) and kitchen (me) is short, I can cook dishes with better quality.
By the way, I have office mates' couple who enjoy garden farming. They gave some of their harvestry. Hechima (a kind of gourds) and Nigauri (bitter melon) came to our kitchen.
They are really blessings of mother earth. Thanks!

同僚のカップルで、家庭菜園を楽しむ人たちがいます。その畑から、へちまとにがうりがやって来ました。へちまはへちまですが、にがうりは方言でゴーヤーと呼んでいます。自分で野菜を作ることはほとんどなくなりましたが、到来物があると「大地の恵み」だなと感謝します。
今回は、へちまを「沖縄夏野菜のカレー」にしました。　ごちそうさまでした。　来年もよろしくね :D

29. Yuming by the piano... ピアノでYuming

私くらい（どれくらい？）の世代の人って、みんな何かしらYumingに思い入れがあるのではないかしら。初めて聞いた中学３年の時から、人生のいろんな場面にYumingがいたように思います。ちょっと前のCDに収録された「雪月花」という曲を、この頃ずっと聴いています。そしたら俄然弾きたくなってきて・・・。買ってしまいました、楽譜。

その時に一緒に購入したのが、これまた大好きなピアニスト・小原孝さんのご本。目次を見ると「我が心のユーミン」なんてあるではありませんか！あまり脈絡なく買ったはずが、この２冊がつながってしまいました。本の帯に「読むとピアノを弾きたくなるエッセイ」とあります。そうでなくても弾きたいのに、ますます弾きたくなったらどうしましょう。

28. Friends with friends いろいろな友だち

August 15 was the Independence Day of India. Indian cuisine was offerred at the dining hall of the organization I am working, and two friends of mine came for the occasion.
８月１５日は、インドの独立記念日でした。職場のレストランでお祝いのインド料理が提供され、友だち２人が食事に来てくれました。

It is fun to introduce my friends to my other friends. This case, I introduced my local friends to my international friends.
友だちを別の友だちに紹介するのはなかなか素敵なことだと思います。特に今回は、地元の友だちを、海外からの研修生に紹介したので、どちらの友だちにも国際的なつながりを広げてもらえたのではないかしら。

My local friends specially visited the lab where I was working. My trainees were busy with their workshop, but they were willing to be friends with visitors. Thanks!
食事の後、私が仕事をしているラボにも入ってもらいました。研修生は、研修最後の制作中で忙しいのですが、快くカメラに収まってくれました。ありがとう。

27. I would play the piano, if I had more time. ピアノ弾きたいな

Billy JoelのDVDを見ました。終盤に出てきたPiano Manを見ていたら、ピアノを弾きたくなってきました。Billy Joelに限らず、ピアノが使われる曲が大好き。もちろん、ピアノだけの曲、ピアノ協奏曲なども。
今は、弾く時間を見つけるのが難しくなってきましたが、弾きたいなぁ。でも、弾く時間があっても、なまった指の練習からしなくてはいけないので、その日に弾きたい曲を弾いている時間はほんとに短い・・・。弾きたい気持ちを持ち続けていれば、また昔のように弾けるようになるかしら。

26. Colosseo in Okinawa 沖縄にもコロッセオが？

「コロッセオ」はローマよね？でも沖縄にもあるんです、「コロッセオ」が。その名も「フード・コロセウム」

那覇市おもろまち（通称：新都心）にあるDFSでは、沖縄から出る飛行機の航空券を持っている人しか買い物できないので、地元の人にはほとんど利用価値なし。でも、そこのレストランを利用することはできます。航空券不要だから。

ローマのコロッセオは、競技場で行われる格闘技を、競技場よりも高いところに設えた客席から見物する構造になっていたと記憶しています。

ここは、競技場に相当するのが沖縄・和・中華・イタリアン・エスニック・デザート・飲み物などの調理＆提供エリアで、客席はそのまま客席です。食事するところから、調理する場所を見下ろせる構造になっているのは珍しいと思いました。

食事をする場所は、少人数からちょっとした団体まで対応可能です。一人で行くにはどうかな？と思いますが。

職場の研修生には、ベジタリアン、イスラム教徒、ヒンズー教徒などがいます。日本で外食すると、そういった食事制限に対応した場所をさがすのが大変ですが、ここは大丈夫。メニューは英語表記もあるので、私も楽ちんです :D

日本人は、友だちと外食すると「割り勘」にすることが多いですよね。私の職場で研修生と外に出ると、「自分が飲食した分だけ支払う」のが基本です。ここの会計は、それにぴったり。お店にはいるときに、ひとりひとりがバーコード月のカードをもらい、各コーナーで食事を注文するとカードから各自の会計に加算され、お店を出るときにそれに基づいて支払う・・・というもの。

これでみんな「明朗会計」！

友人が取ったサラダ。豆やオリーブがたくさんあるのが嬉しかったです。

これはタバスコのボトル。何と４リットル入り！一体だれが使うんでしょうね。イタリアンのコーナーにありました。

コロッセオの外側です。外でも食事ができるようになっています。夏でも、陽が落ちたあとなら、外でも心地よく食事ができると思います。

夕日が沈んだ直後のコロッセオ界隈。新都心界隈の雑踏のすぐそばとは思えない静かな光景です。

飲み物のコーナーには、ソフトドリンクもアルコールもいろいろあります。
